Lovedale College receives a newly revamped ICT Hub.

We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking development in our pursuit of advancing ICT infrastructure. Lovedale College has strategically entered into partnerships with external stakeholders to overcome the challenges associated with independent upgrades. This collaborative approach has already yielded positive results.

In January 2023, the college initiated engagements with various entities, and we are proud to reveal that, before the close of 2023, Lovedale College secured a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) offer from FASSET in collaboration with IT-Masters. Today, on the 12th of December 2023, the finished lab was officially handed over to Acting College Principal, Isaac Mbengo.

The collaboration among the stakeholders has resulted in transforming a traditional classroom at the King campus into a state-of-the-art ICT Hub. The newly established ICT Hub boasts a range of modern facilities, including 30 laptops, single-seater tables, chairs, air conditioning, a power distribution box, and enhanced lab aesthetics. Additionally, the hub is equipped with advanced ICT hardware, such as notebooks with Celeron processors, Clevertouch Smartboard M series 65" 4k, a 4K PTZ Camera, a 65" Smart TV, a mobile charging trolley, mono laser printers, and a Wi-Fi access point.

This achievement is a major step forward in addressing the scarcity of ICT resources at Lovedale College. Acting Principal, Isaac Mbengo expressed his excitement, emphasizing the profound impact this ICT Hub will have on aligning our institution with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) era. The objective is to produce graduates equipped with skills directly applicable to the dynamic needs of the contemporary workplace.

Yandisa Sotshongaye, ICT Assistant Director, reiterated the commitment to further enhance our ICT capabilities. Despite challenges such as the insufficient number of computer labs, the college is steadfast in its dedication to overcoming these obstacles. Budget constraints have posed limitations on infrastructure growth, and we extend an invitation to other stakeholders to join us in creating a more advanced and conducive learning environment.

We anticipate the warm reception of this innovative ICT Hub by our students, and encourage everyone to enjoy the new technology that it has to offer.
