Allan Gray Competition: A Showcase of Innovation and Aspiration

On Friday, July 26 2024, the Allan Gray Competition showcased the immense talent and entrepreneurial spirit of its participants. Held at Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) Makerspace at King Campus, the event brought together a diverse group of aspiring business leaders, each vying for a chance to advance to the provincial rounds and eventually compete on a national stage.

The competition was divided into two main categories, each celebrating unique approaches to business and innovation. Contestants presented their ideas and business plans before a panel of judges, whose task was to identify the most promising and well-conceived proposals. Each participant delivered a well-prepared pitch, demonstrating not only their vision, but also their passion for their chosen fields.

His in-depth market analysis and innovative approach to animal husbandry set him apart as a forward-thinking entrepreneur with a keen understanding of both industry and community needs.

  4. Shade’s presentation highlighted a construction business with a focus on sustainable building practices and community development. Her plan included detailed strategies for incorporating eco-friendly materials and methods, aimed at addressing both environmental concerns and local housing shortages. Shade’s commitment to merging sustainability with practical solutions resonated strongly with the judges.

  2. Nzuzo’s innovative approach to protection and security impressed the panel with its emphasis on integrating advanced technology and personalized services.   3. Somila Ngangafa, Alice Campus - Hair Business
  4. Somila’s pitch for a hair business was notable for its creativity and focus on personalized beauty solutions. Somila’s ability to blend artistry with business acumen made her a standout contender.

With their impressive presentations, Thembelihle Speelman, Shade Classens, Nzuzo Bangani, and Somila Ngangafa secured their spots in the provincial rounds of the competition. Each of these winners now can refine their pitches further and showcase their ideas on a larger stage, with the goal of reaching the national level.
